i guess it's about time i write my story.
i've put this off for a long time... primarily becuase, while i thought my story was bad, i've read so many worse and heart-rending stories here.
i think, though, there is some therapeutic value in 'letting it all out' with others who know what 'it' was like.
I confess I'd avoided this thread because of what it might remind me of, but have now just read it from start to finish.
There aren't any words.
Just love from one survivor to another
i sat down to watch some tv today... our tv only pick up 3 channels.. and stuff worth watching is few and far between.
it's amazing how much mindless drivel is being broadcasted.. .
deal or no deal: where an overactive lunatic runs around the stage hyperventilating, while simultaniously showing off his/her amazing random-number-generator skills by choosing completely arbitrary numbers and winning money for it.
I have no tv - got rid of it after the last summer Olympics and I haven't really missed it, I don't miss the licence fee either!
I prefer listening to the radio anyway - and I can do that and read at the same time
i've been thinking about organizing a jwd book club.
would anyone be interested?
everyone could throw out suggestions of books and i could pick one at random for each read.. i was thinking a book every 2 weeks, but i know a lot of people have kids and obligations so maybe every month would be better?
I'm up to my eyeballs in studying until summer but certainly count me in after then.
Some of George Orwell's books - particularly Animal Farm and 1984 would be good.
How about poetry books too? Each of us could then select and review a favourite poem maybe and say why and how it impacts us
I'd say no more than one book per month though.
Grace - behave yerself and get well soon!
As for prophets - well it depends on whether you mean the 'foretelling' or the 'forth - telling' kind.
Of the former kind, there are a few, such as OBVES.
Of the latter kind, there are many, not necessarily 'aspiring', and even among the atheists, some just don't realise it
today is ian (dansk)'s 5-year jwd anniversary!
he has beeen contributing since feb. 16, 2003.. ian is a dearly loved member who has gone through some painful trials in the last few years.. his courage and persistence have been an inspiration to many jwd members and lurkers.. his story "torn apart" has had thousands of views since ian first started it.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/47295/1.ashx.
his battle with mantle cell lymphoma is here:.
i give you a lyric.
you tell me what song and the artist.
then you give a lyric to guess.
Everytime I look into your eyes, I'm helplessly aware
That the someone I've been searching for is right there
Richard Marx - Hold on to the nights.
Still waiting for someone to find mine -
"does earth plug a hole in heaven or heaven plug a hole in earth."
i give you a lyric.
you tell me what song and the artist.
then you give a lyric to guess.
Looking out a dirty old window
Down below the cars in the city
Go rushing by
I sit here alone
And I wonder why
Kids in America by Kim Wilde (I think!)
i give you a lyric.
you tell me what song and the artist.
then you give a lyric to guess.
FHN - Silverchair 'tomorrow'
here's another:
"does earth plug a hole in heaven - or heaven plug a hole in eath?"
since african-americans seem to be getting all the attention .... how about something about asian-americans?.

Hey Sylvia - less of the 'idiot' hmmm?!! Nobody is an idiot, we're all continually learning
For some reason that's the only way you can get certain links to work - I learnt it from another poster here so I just automatically try it now if clicking won't work.
